New California Laws Will Ease Groundwater Right

October 9th, 2015 Governor Jerry Brown signed two bills, AB 1390 (Alejo) & SB 226 (Pavley) that would make groundwater disputes resolve quicker in court. These companion bills streamline California's adjudication process, adding groundwater right allocations for those in a covered groundwater basin.
Establishing groundwater rights has been a multiple year process which makes it a very unappealing process for most. Some of these adjudications have included over 70,000 parties. The new laws are focused on expediting the process, making it more conducive to the parties involved.
